Hello everyone, I hope you are having a good day (^ ^) ~!
First of all, last Monday my english teacher told my whole class and I that we were to type and double space our Beowolf essays and have them ready to be turned in by Wednesday (today). Today, when it came time for us to turn them in only three people had done the assignment and the rest convinced our teacher that she told them it was due Friday. So, now they are due Friday. I still turned mine in, but....all that work...(>.<)
Also, today in Spanish II, my teacher told me to switch seats because apparently the seat that I was sitting in was positioned in a way that made my back face her and it made her think I wasn't listening. So, now she thinks I don't listen even though I have gotten an A on every test she has given so far (I also got A's and B's in spanish I)...maybe she thinks i'm cheating D: ? Yeah, so, because of that I felt really sad most of that class and stumbled on a bunch of my spanish words/phrases. And we're going to be having a speaking test on Friday.
In Anime Club, our president announced that today was our last day of watching Kyo Kara Mao because it's a really long anime and if we watch al of it we won't have time for other animes (also, he didn't really wanna watch it in the first place lol X3). So, next week we will be having a game day. My job is to bring in my [small] tv which I have decorated with anime and puppy stickers :D .
Oh, and next week in Anime Club we will be voting on and announcing the winner of the drawing contest. ....I still need to do mine (^.^;) .
Tomorrow, i'm going to go to Spanish Club after school (The spanish club teacher is not the same as my Spanish II teacher this trimester). We are going to continue making Marigolds out of yellow tissue paper for El Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) which is basically the halloween in Mexico.
Info about the holiday:
People go to cemeteries to be with the souls of the departed and build private altars containing the favorite foods and beverages as well as photos and memorabilia of the departed. The intent is to encourage visits by the souls, so that the souls will hear the prayers and the comments of the living directed to them. Celebrations can take a humorous tone, as celebrants remember funny events and anecdotes about the departed.
Flowers, symbolizing the brevity of life, are massed and fashioned into garlands, wreaths and crosses to decorate the altar and the grave. The marigold is the most traditional flower of the season. In Aztec times it was called the cempasuchil, the flower of 400 lives. The fragrance of the cempasuchil leads the spirits home. Sometimes paths of the petals lead out of the cemetery and to the house to guide the spirits. A cross of marigold petals is formed on the floor so that as the spirit approaches the alter, he will step on the cross and expel his guilt.
